My wife and I are both students of Christian Science. For well over thirty-five years Science has answered our every need. Three fine sons were raised with the help of Christian Science. These boys were all active in sports.
One experience that comes to thought took place while one of the boys was playing college football. After one play our son did not get up. They carried him from the field on a stretcher and took him to a hospital for X rays. The team physician had indicated that the injury appeared to be serious.
His mother and I were attending the game. We returned to the car and quietly prayed to see man as God's spiritual, perfect reflection and to realize our son's complete freedom from any claim of injury-, no matter how many others believed it was serious. The following statement by Mrs. Eddy was most helpful (Science and Health, p. 424) : "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony."
