After I had an inspiring and harmonious...

From the May 1970 issue of The Christian Science Journal

After I had an inspiring and harmonious first year as Second Reader in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, a vacation was arranged to visit my family, located at a military base in a western desert area. Just a few days before I was to return home, a severe dust storm appeared suddenly, and something lodged in one of my eyes. By the next morning there was a condition of abscess in the eye, which continued until I got in the plane midweek to return to my home.

A Christian Science practitioner had been called for treatment long-distance. I trusted the prayerful work, and on the plane I felt some action in the eye. Soon the particle of some size came out. It appeared to be a small many-pronged cactus spur. No power was given to this, and there was great expectancy that I could be at my post on Sunday.

I had already seen clearly that the Word expresses itself and that a God-appointed office is always fulfilled. Saturday, about noon, a complete change took place, followed quickly by the healing of the eye, which became clear, and the sight was perfect. But it appeared that infection from the abscess had spread, and some deafness had to be overcome. This also was faced with confidence.
