Building on Bedrock

From the May 1970 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Bedrock.
Unshakable.

Build on it with confidence. Place your foundations on it. Then fearlessly let your structure soar skyward.

A vivid contemporary example of bedrock in connection with building is given at the site of the Christian Science Church Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Here we see the startling fact that one third of the main building's total structure extends below ground. The three-hundred-and-sixty-foot-high Administration Building is to be supported by pilings that are driven one hundred and eighty feet deep to bedrock.
