"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy" (Ps. 107:2).
One day, in 1946, I experienced a pain in my arm, which extended into the shoulder. I am a teacher of piano, and being unable to use the arm, I became very fearful and nervous. After visiting several physicians, some of whom called the condition rheumatism, and others bursitis, and after taking much medication, I felt myself getting worse.
Soon my condition became what is called a nervous breakdown with all its depressing symptoms, and I had no desire to live. However, one day I felt that I only wanted to read the Bible. I found that while discussing the Bible with a Bible student I felt better. Also when teaching a few pupils at my home, I seemed to feel perfectly normal. I realize now that this was due, as it says in the Bible, to my willingness "to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord" (II Cor. 5:8). While visiting a student's home for a lesson, the mother of the child told me of Christian Science and sent me to a Christian Science practitioner.
