Sixty-one years ago my mother placed her three children in a Christian Science Sunday School. Although my brother and sister did not continue in the study of Christian Science, my interest remained. Science sustained me when my parents passed away before I was nineteen, placed me in good employment, and met all my needs without fail. Through prayer in Christian Science I have had healings through mental surgery, which has removed kidney stones and performed dental surgery.
After a short period of time in my mid-twenties, when worldly pleasures seemed important to me and I felt it would be dishonest to apply Christian Science, I saw very clearly that this truth was all that I wanted. While I was consecratedly studying Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy from cover to cover, many false desires left me. And without my realizing when the healings took place, I was freed from sinus infection, a fungus growth, digestive trouble, periodic sore throat, chronic headaches, and other false presentations.
When I was the owner of a doughnut business, the large oil vat sprang a leak and burst into flames. While my assistant, also a student of Christian Science, called the fire department, I prayed to know that in Truth there is no destructive element. A mental picture of the Biblical burning bush, untouched by the fire, flashed before me, and the flames stopped instantly. The firemen were amazed that there was no fire or any visible damage, although the oil continued to leak.
