Church in Action

Carrying out the goal

From the December 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The five-year goal of strengthening the healing thrust of Christian Science gave fresh impetus to a community-oriented project conducted by First Church, Excelsior, Minnesota. The church sent each member a list of 14 ways to individually present Christian Science to the community.

After adding his own ideas to the list, each member was asked to implement each action daily, weekly, or at least monthly. The basic list included:
-Identify yourself as a Christian Scientist.
-Tell someone about Christian Science.
-Bring a guest to church.
-Heal someone.
-Take someone to a lecture.
-Write an article, for the periodicals.
-Give someone a copy of Science and Health.
-Offer a subscription to the Monitor or
one of the periodicals.

At the end of the year, members turned in (unsigned, if desired) reports of their progress.
