Reversing Some Physical Concepts

From the December 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Do the concepts of physics, based as they are on a material sense of things, offer any insight to the student of Christian Science, the Science of spiritual reality?

"Every material belief," writes Mrs. Eddy, "hints the existence of spiritual reality; and if mortals are instructed in spiritual things, it will be seen that material belief, in all its manifestations, reversed, will be found the type and representative of verities priceless, eternal, and just at hand."  Miscellaneous Writings, pp. 60, 61;

Mrs. Eddy's statement here is in bold challenge to the general belief in matter. The ability to reverse material belief is not achieved in a moment; it requires acknowledgment and cultivation of spiritual sense and relinquishment of faith in material sense. This process is a continuing adventure of spiritual discovery, in which each individual pursues his own route of perception, guided by Bible insights and the explanations of Christian Science.
