Chaplains with something unique

From the December 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Scientists serving as Chaplains in the Armed Forces are being recognized for the unique contribution they make.

An Air Force Chaplain in Texas wrote recently about a new recruit whose hand had become badly swollen and painful, making it impossible to perform his training assignments. The recruit asked permission to visit the Chaplain. A bewildered instructor asked why he didn't go to the dispensary, saying, "The Chaplain can't help you." But the recruit replied that he was a Christian Scientist and the Chaplain was the one he needed to see.

At the chapel, the recruit was given a quiet place to study while the Chaplain immediately began giving Christian Science treatment. Forty-five minutes later the hand was normal and the recruit returned to his duties.
