From the February 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At times individual members of The Mother Church receive invitations to address a branch church inspirational meeting in the interest of church activity or to consider the application of Christian Science to the solutions of pressing local and national problems. It is in order for a member of The Mother Church to accept an invitation occasionally to address the membership of a branch church other than his own, or to address a meeting called by a joint committee in which his branch does not participate.

However, we recommend that the individual Christian Scientist accept no more than three such invitations during a calendar year and no more than one from a single branch. Talks which a member may give in his own branch church or for a joint committee participated in by his branch are not included in this number.

In addition to the above, members of The Mother Church sometimes accept invitations to address youth committees and college organizations, and secular activities for Christian Scientists such as forums, schools, camps, youth groups. We recommend that the individual member accept no more than three such invitations during any calendar year and no more than one from any individual group.
