How grateful I always am to have witnessed this statement of Truth by Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, p. 494): "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
From an early age I was a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School, and when I was about seven years old, I was instantaneously healed of infantile paralysis. This was brought about by the love of my mother, the devoted prayerful work of a Christian Science practitioner, and my own indignation that mortal mind could in any way hinder my normal activity.
I was considered rather a weak and sickly child by the medical profession. Many times during much of my childhood, I saw the power of Truth in operation, but when I was fifteen, I had to take a real stand for Christian Science myself. At the boarding school I was then attending, the school doctors diagnosed my condition as tubercular and said that at least one operation, if not a second, was needed, probably to be followed by six months in a sanatorium. My parents were called. My parents left entirely up to me which course I wished to follow—to go along with the medical one or to put my complete trust in God for healing. At first I was uncertain, and then, a little doubtfully, I decided to turn entirely to God through Christian Science.
