One may know all the letter of the spiritual truth of God and man as His perfect likeness, but until one's faith and courage are developed, he has no consistent proof of this truth.
Mrs. Eddy writes, "Trials are proofs of God's care." Science and Health, p. 66; The statement puzzled me when I was a young student of Christian Science. In my childhood years this Science had given me a sense of security and faith that led me to feel that it would always save me from great trials. But this statement seemed to produce a sense of foreboding.
As I grew up, however, and began to meet the trials that all young people encounter for themselves when they leave the security of home, I began to learn that each of us can do what Christ Jesus did—cast out the beliefs of sin, lack, fear, and sickness and look faithfully Godward to let the true idea of spiritual being develop in us.
