"How shall we do?"

From the April 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"I can almost forget my troubles up here." The speaker was standing at the top of the highest mountain in Oklahoma. "If only I didn't have to go back down," she sighed.

Perhaps the material height seemed symbolic of a higher consciousness of God's presence. Experience has proved that running away from trouble is no solution. Is there no real way of escape? Must we accept troubles as inevitable and bear them hopelessly or strike back at them as if in mortal combat with real enemies? Which way are we to turn?

In Christian Science we learn to pray for humility to follow the example of Christ Jesus. When difficulties appear, we go to the Bible and to the writings of Mrs. Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for inspiration and guidance.
