From the April 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Mrs. Eddy writes, "Whoever opens the way in Christian Science is a pilgrim and stranger, marking out the path for generations yet unborn" (Science and Health, p. 174). My grandparents were the ones who first embraced the teachings of Christian Science for our family, and I am most grateful for their pioneering, which certainly proved the above statement.

Christian Science has been applied to every aspect of my life since birth, so I have much to be grateful for. When I was in Sunday School, I experienced healings of burns, fevers, a sprained ankle, and poor eyesight. Many of these were instantaneous healings through a simple understanding that "God is love" (I John 4:8).

The healing of extreme shyness and nervousness has taken many years. This healing began in high school and progressed through college into a teaching career. This was accomplished through a more consecrated study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings and service in the Christian Science movement, first as a member of a college organization and then as a branch church member.
