Christian Science has been my only physician for thirty-one years. I submit the following experience and healing, hoping that it may encourage others to stand steadfastly for Truth.
About fourteen years ago inharmonious conditions at work became unbearable because of constant misunderstandings and friction. I was unable to cope with this situation and became discouraged and resentful. As a result I became severely ill. I wanted to resign but felt that I should not run away from the problem, because we know in Christian Science that our individual problems exist only in belief and must be worked out in our own consciousness.
I was scheduled to direct a summer camp, and a health certificate was required. After a thorough examination the physician confronted me with his diagnosis. He said that I had a serious kidney infection and he felt sure it was malignant. He wanted to rush me to the hospital for surgery. I told him I was a Christian Scientist and did not wish to undergo surgery. I explained further, "I know that no surgeon's knife can remove my extreme unhappiness over my work. God alone can help me with this problem."
