From the Directors

Announcement of New Clerk

From the December 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

After fifteen years of dedicated service at headquarters as Publisher's Agent, Executive Assistant to The Christian Science Board of Directors, and Clerk of The Mother Church, Charles Henry Gabriel, C.S.B., has retired, effective October 1, 1973, to give his full attention to the healing ministry and the teaching of Christian Science.

Mr. Gabriel has our warmest appreciation for all he has contributed in the key positions he has held, and our sincere good wishes for his continued valuable service to our Cause as a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science in the Boston area.

George W. Ledbetter, C. S. B., who has been Group Manager of Field Activities since March, 1972, has been appointed by The Christian Science Board of Directors as Clerk of The Mother Church, a position which will now include enlarged responsibilities. As Clerk, Mr. Ledbetter will be responsible for the Clerk's Group, consisting of the Clerk's Department and also the Department of Branches and Practitioners, the Department of Care, and the International Department. This arrangement provides a unification of departments concerned with membership and related Field activities under the direction of the officer designated in the Church Manual by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, to hold responsibility for this area.
