SEEKING AND FINDING

(Luke 2:41-49)

From the December 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Where are you looking for your child?
In body where you reconciled
Your thought of him with lineage,
Ancestral features in a cage
That holds old family traits outlined?
Is this what you expect to find?

Beyond true self he has not strayed,
And you will find him unafraid
Within God's consciousness; He wrought
The purity of childlike thought,
Rejoicing in the Father's care.

You who now search will find him there
As Mary found her little son
Full-safe with God, the Holy One,
If you will lift your thought to see
His spiritual identity.
