"Behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself." Luke 13:11;
Pondering this description of the woman whom Jesus called from the crowd and healed, we might ask ourselves: Was the woman unable to lift up herself because she was bowed together? Or was she bowed together because she hadn't, in the true sense, lifted up herself?
The latter of these possibilities can provoke some serious thinking.
