I had been considered frail from childhood. A few years after my marriage I had a very serious operation. I recovered to the extent of caring for a little baby and doing a few household duties. But in a short time I became very ill again. After a consultation of several doctors it was decided that my only hope was another operation, but I rebelled and refused. Much concern was expressed by members of the family, but I remained firm.
We were friendly with a couple who were Christian Scientists. My husband suggested we call them to see what Christian Science could do to help. My response was that we ask for treatment from a practitioner listed in The Christian Science Journal. A practitioner was called, and in a period of time I was completely healed.
My mother witnessed this healing and asked for treatment for a crippling condition of rheumatism, and she was healed. Soon after her healing she was preparing for a trip and in packing ran a crochet hook into the fleshy part of her hand with great force. As we were unable to remove it, she turned from me and went into the bathroom and closed the door. Soon she came out holding the hook in her hand. I asked her how she had got it out, and she said she did nothing but close her eyes and repeat the Lord's Prayer and the hook dropped out and fell to the floor. The hook was bent double, and there was not a mark on her hand.
