Over twelve years ago I was told by a doctor that I would be a semi-invalid the rest of my life because of a spinal ailment. On leaving the doctor's office my husband said to me, "I know of only one thing left to try. Would you be willing to go to a Christian Science church service?" This we did, as I was willing to try. The day after we attended my first Sunday service my husband brought home, from the Christian Science Reading Room, a pamphlet entitled "God's Law of Adjustment."
While reading it, I had an instantaneous healing. I heard a snap in my back but did not realize at that moment what it was, nor did I notice that I was sitting erect for the first time in over a year. I was so absorbed in what I was learning of God that the painful condition was corrected almost unnoticed until I stood up. I quickly sat back down to prove to myself that I had actually stood up without pain and agony. This was done several times in sheer delight as I had been told that I would never be able to ski, hike, swim, or take care of the home as I had done before.
The Christ that heals had truly been present with me that afternoon and proved to me that God is the great Physician. With faith and a new knowledge, as well as a sincere desire not only to learn more of this healing power but to demonstrate it, I have had many other healings—all of which have been permanent. This Science of Christianity is unfailing in application and permanent in demonstration.
