When I was small, I went to a Christian Science Sunday School for a while. Through the years, at different times, I thought about the teaching I had received, but I did not go to church. From time to time I had treatment by a Christian Science practitioner. I married a student of Christian Science, and since then my life has been completely changed, for through my husband I started to attend church again. Before this I had been a very lonely person, depressed, and in bad health.
I am no longer lonely or depressed, for to be conscious of God's power and presence is to have peace. On page 505 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy states, "Spirit imparts the understanding which uplifts consciousness and leads into all truth."
While on a vacation, we were traveling through the mountains. It was early morning, and the sun was just coming up. We were going quite fast, when I had a feeling that danger was ahead. I told my husband to stop the car. As we went around a large curve, I could see something up ahead, but because of the heavy fog couldn't make it out. I said, "Can't you stop the car?" And as he did bring the car to a stop, there was a cow standing in the middle of the road about a foot in front of us. We both thanked God for this protection.
