I became a member of The Mother Church many years ago because I felt the urge to become identified with the Cause in which I deeply believe. Mistakenly, I felt that because there were many human problems I had not yet solved, I was not qualified for membership in a branch church. A practitioner helped me to see that this was where I belonged as part of my spiritual unfoldment. Through active participation I have had my eyes and heart opened to many blessings.
My first healing convinced me that Christian Science is irrevocably the way of Christ Jesus. A medical examination had indicated that immediate removal of my tonsils was necessary. Several months later, after becoming interested in Christian Science, I had a severe attack of tonsillitis. Even though Science was very new to me, and I had more faith than understanding, I asked a Science friend for prayerful help. I was healed overnight, and I have never had a recurrence of the malady.
Two years later, while I was traveling in a summer theater company in a remote area of northern Canada, I stepped into a hole which had been concealed by the new-mown grass. My brother and a friend in the company immediately came to my aid. Because my ankle had just about tripled in size in seconds, I was carried, against my protest, to the mining company doctor. He showed my brother and friend, through the X-ray machine, that the ligaments had been torn. As it was my brother's company, and he knew it would be impossible to get someone to replace me immediately, he asked the doctor if I could continue working. The doctor replied that I must remain in bed for six weeks and then I would be ready for crutches.
