Testimonies of Healing

When my brother was called into the...

From the January 1975 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When my brother was called into the Army during the Second World War, my parents turned to Christian Science. Science gave them the comfort and peace they sought, and my brother returned home at the end of the war. I was immediately drawn to the concept of a God who could help in time of need.

My son had been suffering from croup. One evening when we were awakened by his distressing noise, I picked up the textbook of Christian Science, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, thinking, "There's healing in this book." I studied diligently, earnestly endeavoring to understand what I was reading. So intense was my study that I completely forgot about the child until I looked up and saw my husband leaving our son's room. With conviction I knew that the child was healed. Never again did that malady trouble our home.

Another son swallowed a detergent compound when he was one year old. There followed for him a time of fever and inability to eat. But we prayed. My husband's vacation had come, and our plans had been to go to the mountains. Many other people's plans would have needed rearranging if we hadn't gone at that time, so we proceeded, all the while relying on prayer for the healing.
