Coincidence

From the January 1975 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The spiritual qualities that originate in God are expressed by man because God and man are coexistent. Christ Jesus, who more than any other demonstrated dominion over untoward circumstances, based his dominion upon his conscious oneness, or unity, with God. He said, "I and my Father are one." John 10:30; And in another instance he said, "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father." 14:9 ; This Christly consciousness of the true man's coexistence with God enabled Jesus to find within himself the divine attributes he needed to save himself and become the Saviour to others.

When he spoke, he was speaking as God impelled him to speak. God was expressing the divine wisdom and intelligence through him. When he was accomplishing his marvelous healings, he was doing the work that God had sent him to do; God was manifesting the omnipotence of good through him. He said, "I must work the works of him that sent me." 9:4 ;

It was not as though he were going to his Father to get intelligence and power, but that by knowing himself to be the Son of God he would have within himself all the spiritual qualities that are normal and natural to this divine sonship.
