I came into Christian Science about six years ago through a most wonderful healing. One afternoon while searching through the religious book section in the public library for a good Christian book that would help me to know God, all of a sudden a most wonderful feeling of peace and assurance came over me, and I knew within myself that God had already answered my prayer. I was led to a particular bookshelf, where my eyes rested on one book with the title, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
Even as a schoolboy I was a very keen and devoted student of the Bible and had taken over a dozen Bible correspondence courses from different organizations. In fact, at one time an overseas organization offered me a free full scholarship to attend their theological college to work through a ministerial course. I did not accept any of these teachings because I felt within me that the truth was lacking. At that time I was not at all aware of Christian Science.
The second part of the title to this book at once appealed to me, "Key to the Scriptures." I opened the book, and the very first sentence in the Preface (p. vii) created a great longing and desire to borrow the book at once: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." That night I completed nearly six chapters. As I lay down to sleep, I felt real peace and satisfaction within me and had the confidence and assurance that at long last my search for the truth had been realized. Within a week I read through the whole book, and it was the turning point in my life.
