Church in Action News and Announcements

Conveying The Mother Church's love for each of its members

From the September 1975 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

—Luke 15:4, 5

A member of The Mother Church wrote to the Clerk of The Mother Church requesting his membership be dissolved. A branch church was contacted and asked to send a member as a representative of The Mother Church to visit with this person. A friendly and fruitful discussion ensued. Negative feelings of bitterness and cynicism were erased with assurance of The Mother Church's and branch church's love and active desire to help. Touched by the outreach, this man decided to retain his membership with The Mother Church.
