Emergence from Defeat

From the October 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Spirit, God, is unconquerable.

Our true being is never a despairing mortal. Man is not mortal. Never defeated, he is God's own likeness. Understanding these truths, we can successfully emerge from sin, from the fear of violence and sickness, and we can progressively conquer the universal belief in death.

A crucial question is, How shall we cope with the threat of defeat? When the decision is made on the side of matter, or the personalizing of evil, the problem is always compounded; when it is made on the side of Spirit, or Principle, there is victory.
