The Rewards of Serving in a Small Church

From the October 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"You're going to start Christian Science services in your town?" our friends asked. "Why? Are there other Christian Scientists there?"

We answered that we knew of no others yet. In fact, we were quite new in the area and not well acquainted. But we felt sure the time had come to hold services so that others could learn of the healing truths of Christian Science and be blessed by them.

We went ahead prayerfully with preparations. At the first service we had a congregation of two. I can still recall the great joy we felt that Sunday. What did the number of people matter? This was the expression of Church, bringing the Science of Christ to our community.
