With deep gratitude for Christian Science...

From the October 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

With deep gratitude for Christian Science and in proof of the statement from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 494) "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" I submit this testimony.

Two years after immigrating to the United States from Hungary, I opened my own photography studio in a suburb of a large city. It soon became apparent that several of my customers were different from the majority. They seemed more mellow and kind, expressing a loving and meek attitude. This contrast aroused my interest and, without asking direct questions, I learned that each was a Christian Scientist.

This was the first time I had heard of Christian Science, and I decided to learn more about it. Because of my great difficulty with the English language, I understood nothing of the first Christian Science church service I attended. But a young woman spoke to me after the service and offered to help me understand the English translation of the Bible and some of the terms used in Science and Health. Through her visits to my studio and my regular church attendance, I received a glimpse of this religion. From such a beginning I steadily grew in my comprehension and application of Science. I now rejoice in membership in The Mother Church, a branch church, and in class instruction and my annual association meeting. The yearly meeting has opened the doors to my fuller appreciation of the Christ light that shines through Science and Health.
