It is important to know—to understand —that in God's universe, that is, in reality, there is no conflict or discord. No struggle against fear, prejudice, poverty, sickness (and worse) is a real factor in your identity as a child of God, made and sustained in His image.
Admittedly one's physical or mental health and well-being may seem to encounter formidable adversaries. However, Christian Science shows that what seems real to the material senses and earthbound intellect is illusory and unreal, not in accord with the law of God, creative Principle, Life. The humble seeker for Truth learns that to the degree one understands and accepts and lives by the proposition that God, good, is All and there is no other power nor presence, one becomes aware of the elimination of various forms of evil from one's experience. To put it in another way, when the mesmeric persuasion of some form of materialism or materialistic thinking ceases to impress because of the counterbalance of spiritual truth, the effects of evil will no longer seem to be manifested.
How this comes about is set forth in explicit detail in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, the Christian Science textbook. From a study of this book one perceives that healing is not a matter of changing a bad condition to a good one but of coming to realize that the bad situation is not really going on at all. As Mrs. Eddy puts it: "For right reasoning there should be but one fact before the thought, namely, spiritual existence.
