Not Getting but Losing

From the February 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Someone faced with a threat of lack of strength or health or life might turn to God to pray for these. But Christian Science shows us that because God is Life and the source of all the strength, health, and life there is, man already has strength, health, life. God is constantly giving all good to man.

What is needed is to refuse to believe suggestions of lack about what God is always giving, to refuse to believe that anything God gives can be missing. Actually, we don't have to get health and strength; we have to lose a belief in their absence. We don't have to get life, because as Life's spiritual manifestation we are now and always the continuous evidence of Life's eternality.

Through Christian Science we are discovering the one creation of the one infinite Mind as composed of spiritual ideas belonging to this Mind. This is the only creation there really is, and being completely under the control of this totally good Mind, it is entirely good. Lack of good or presence of evil is never a part of this real creation but an unreal concept of a nonexistent mind. It is merely an argument coming to our thought to be discarded as a lying suggestion that there can be more than God, who is All.
