"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget...

From the September 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits" (Ps. 103:2).

This I would like to do—to praise and thank God for leading me to Christian Science. Christian Science was brought into my home at a time when the need was greatest. Friends took me to a Sunday service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I did not understand much, probably because I was not receptive at first. But at the close, in "the scientific statement of being," these words stood out to me: "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468). I could accept wholeheartedly that God is infinite Mind. This concept of God changed my thinking and my life. I found refuge and peace in this understanding.

At that time I had suffered for several years from a serious infection on my leg that I believed would not heal. When I occupied myself more with the teachings of Christian Science and was elected Reader, I still wore a bandage. I had, however, so much joy in voicing the truth that I forgot the complaint. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health(ibid., p. 261): "Look away from the body into Truth and Love, the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality." I proved these words when I sought the salvation of Soul, God, and to know my life in God rather than in matter. My leg was healed.
