Christian Science came early into my life.
As a young boy I suffered acutely from a form of eczema that did not respond to a long course of medical treatment. My mother had heard of Christian Science many years before, and one day, in desperation, she called at a Christian Science Reading Room near our home to ask whether Christian Science could heal me. She was assured that it could, and she took me to see a Christian Science practitioner. I particularly remember giving a lot of thought to the practitioner's assurance that, because I was the child of God, I was loving, lovable, and beloved.
My parents began to attend the local Church of Christ, Scientist, and we three children went to the Sunday School. Medical treatment was discontinued; I visited the practitioner each week, and within three months all trace of the disease had vanished. At the same time my mother was permanently healed of recurrent eczema on her hands. The spiritual healing of physical disease had become a reality in our lives.
