What Christian Science Heals

From the September 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Before setting out to treat in Christian Science, it's vital to know just what this Science heals.

It certainly isn't wrong to say that the Science of Christ heals disease, both functional and organic. Mary Baker Eddy gives us this definition, in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, of the Christ: "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error."Science and Health, p. 583;And from the Bible we have: "I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord."Jer. 30:17; What promises: that no sickness or sin is beyond the scope of Truth, God!

But to think of healing just as the getting rid of physical problems is not the fullest or deepest way of looking at the operations of the Christ, as explained in Christian Science. If we left our sense of spiritual healing there, we could start off treating problems wrongly.
