When I first heard of Christian Science, I was in very poor health and was being treated by doctors for cancer. Like the woman in the Bible (Luke 8:43), I had spent all but was no better. A relative introduced me to a Christian Science practitioner and with less than two weeks of treatment through prayer I was healed. Since then Christian Science has been my way of life.
On my first visit to the practitioner she read a statement to me from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 295), "The mortal mind through which Truth appears most vividly is that one which has lost much materiality—much error—in order to become a better transparency for Truth." This has stayed with me through the years, and I realize the importance of spiritualizing my thought.
In my rearing of four children Christian Science has been most helpful. Their physical ills were healed, often instantaneously. It was a great help to them in their schoolwork. They all finished college with high grades. Three of the four are active students of Christian Science; one daughter is a practitioner listed in the Journal. Two granddaughters are class-taught students of Christian Science.
