For all humanity

From the November 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Have we been praying only for self or for all humanity as well? Do we sometimes become so engrossed in seeking solutions to pressing personal problems that we forget the significance of our relationship with all people, everywhere?

Scientific Christianity embraces the understanding that God, divine Love, is our universal Father, providing all that is needed to maintain eternally the whole of creation in perfect harmony. In her article "The New Birth" Mrs. Eddy cautions us, "Only by admitting evil as a reality, and entering into a state of evil thoughts, can we in belief separate one man's interests from those of the whole human family, or thus attempt to separate Life from God." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 18;

R. Buckminster Fuller, design scientist and philosopher, speaks of the time in his life when he was penniless and without employment—a failure by world standards. At that point he decided to stop trying to earn a living in the self-centered manner of world thinking and to think and work comprehensively, in terms of all humanity. As he has done this, he has brought about advances for mankind, and provided for his family and himself as well.
