There is no law of heredity

From the December 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One person may claim that his success and excellent health are directly due to a line of gifted, healthy predecessors. Another, that the disease and failure oppressing him are legacies from less satisfactory forebears. Given the assumption that man is wholly or partly material, such conclusions might appear reasonable. But logic based on a false premise is never valid.

Christian Science, reasoning from the basis of perfect God and perfect man, and in accordance with the spiritual interpretation of the Scriptures, reveals that man is not material at all but totally spiritual. This Science proves by healing so-called hereditary faults and diseases that man has not descended from a genealogical line drawn by chance on a backdrop of time.

The mortal sense of man, supposedly matter-based and matter-encased, is a mental misconception arising from a false, mortal mind. Mortal man has no actual existence. He is virtually a dream-image, living in a dream world.
