Testimonies of Healing

It is wonderfully challenging to prove...

From the June 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is wonderfully challenging to prove the power of God, Mind, in spiritual healing, even if it took two months to realize the healing I wish to relate here.

I was driving to visit friends for a weekend, when my car left the parkway and somersaulted into an embankment. When the car righted itself, I found myself sitting on the right front seat. I had received injuries to my neck and shoulders. (There were no passengers with me.) My first thought was of the truth: divine Mind governs at all times. I was taken to a service station where I was able to telephone a Christian Science practitioner to ask for treatment through prayer. The friends I was to visit came and drove me to their home.

After I returned to my own home the next day, the fear of paralysis and the symptoms of shock made it wisest for me to be removed to a nursing home for Christian Scientists by ambulance. I had always had doubts when reading Mrs. Eddy's statements that there is no matter and was afraid to handle that belief. This time the unhandled belief could not be avoided, especially as I was reminded by a nurse that God, Spirit, is real and matter is unreal. I grappled days and nights with the false evidence of an accident and I prayed earnestly to understand the nothingness of matter and the allness of Spirit.
