What is the main thrust that impels the study and metaphysical work of active students of Christian Science? Isn't it a deep desire to become more God-conscious, more joyously aware of God's presence and our oneness with Him? This spiritual sense of unity with God, the All-Mind, must be cultivated by us all if we as individuals, and as a church, are to grow to our full potential in Christ.
We all know that it is relatively easy to intellectually pinpoint this great need, but quite another thing to carry through, to work with such vigor and consecration that we become actually conscious that we live in God's allness—really feel this truth in sufficient degree to demonstrate it as harmony in our daily lives.
But what is it that sometimes dulls our sense of joy and inspiration? What robs us of our buoyancy? What is the influence that seems to make scientific prayer difficult or even distasteful—that makes us lazy about our study and our daily prayer for ourselves and our church, so losing the harmony and peace that this work always imparts?
