Testimonies of Healing

Learning to talk to God as a friend...

From the August 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Learning to talk to God as a friend, as a loving, interested Father, to me, is one of our greatest blessings. Prayer, as learned through the study of Christian Science, is an indispensable help in the rearing of children, both from the standpoint of maintaining happy relations and for the healing of physical ills.

Healings of measles, chicken pox, a severe case of croup, a skin infection, a growth, and mental depression are but a few of the proofs we have had in our family of the healing power of God. We also had complete protection in an automobile mishap.

Early in my own study, I was troubled with a chronic sore throat. A physician was consulted and he advised surgery as the only cure. I told him I needed time to consider. I returned home and gave it thought, but from a spiritual standpoint rather than dwelling on the physical trouble. My grasp of the teaching of Christian Science was like a tender root that would require nurturing if it was to grow. I needed to practice what I had been reading in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and Mary Baker Eddy's other writings, if I hoped to progress.
