Christian Science is absolute—not abstract

From the October 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The discovery by Mary Baker Eddy that Christianity is Science began a revolution in human thought as yet unrecognized by a vast majority of serious thinkers. But the momentum of this revolution is deeply felt by the individual who grasps the spiritual significance of the discovery. Individual thought, probing the depths of divine Science, is progressively detached from its material moorings and set free.

That Christian Science liberates is attested by the result of its application— healing, in the widest sense. To the one released from imprisoning sickness or sin by the Science of Christ, Christianity has become a vital, tangible presence. Eagerly this liberated prisoner thirsts for greater understanding, searches for even more freedom from material limitations. And during this search he learns that to claim his present total freedom from every mortal belief is both scientific and pragmatic.

He finds that even though he may humanly still appear to need healing and regeneration, in absolute fact he is now and unendingly the perfect expression of perfect Principle and lives in eternal unity with Principle, God. This absolute stand supports his further healing efforts. Mrs. Eddy unequivocally states, "Christian Science is absolute; it is neither behind the point of perfection nor advancing towards it; it is at this point and must be practised therefrom."
