How do you get rid of sin?

From the May 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One of the most pernicious suggestions being promoted today is the belief that sin is normal, that immorality is the accepted mode, and that "everyone is doing it." This is mortal mind, or material, sensual thinking, using the big lie technique. It's self-justification operating on a grand scale. To counter this error we must be alert to the false claim so that we may defend ourselves against it and also be ready and able to help protect others.

But how do we defend ourselves from such mesmerism? Mary Baker Eddy makes clear that one of the main aims of the healing work in Christian Science is to overcome the belief of sin. And she says in Science and Health: "To get rid of sin through Science, is to divest sin of any supposed mind or reality, and never to admit that sin can have intelligence or power, pain or pleasure. You conquer error by denying its verity." Science and Health, p. 339;

Certainly one of the first steps in accomplishing this task is to realize that God is Mind and that there is but one Mind, one true consciousness. Because of the absolute goodness of God, divine Mind, we know there is no place for sin in the divine consciousness. Then in obeying the first commandment to have one God we affirm the fact that we have one Mind, which is conscious only of good. We refute the belief in an evil mind, an opposite to the one Mind.
