No stigma

From the May 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Medieval history informs us that St. Francis of Assisi was marked with what is known as the stigmata. After dwelling on the events of Jesus' passion and crucifixion, the very marks of the cross and the spear appeared on his body. In subsequent centuries some who became profoundly impressed by the tragedy of the crucifixion also showed these signs.

Those who recognize the impact of thought on the body are not surprised at this phenomenon. Even some in the medical profession are investigating more seriously the relation of human thought to bodily disease.

However, human theories have offered not enough concrete progress in dealing with the mental nature of disease. It's one thing to see that the human mind seems to be a cause and quite another thing to know how to heal the human mind and its apparent effects. Is there a corrective law that can bring about a change of consciousness from disease to health?
