Unseen by evil

From the July 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

His adversaries were angry! Christ Jesus had preached a revolutionary doctrine in their synagogue at Nazareth. They took steps to destroy him. He was led to the brow of the hill on which the city stood. They intended to push him over. But their plan failed! Luke reports, "He passing through the midst of them went his way." Luke 4:30;

Why were they unable to harm him? Had he become invisible to them? His consciousness was so spiritually imbued at the moment of great danger that carnal, hateful thoughts could not locate him. The truly Christly nature of man as God's likeness has no kinship or association with error. Evil cannot touch God-made man. Paul puts this truth as a question: "What concord hath Christ with Belial?" II Cor. 6:15;

In Christian Science one learns that evil has no power with which to destroy man, whose nature is spiritual. An evil eye cannot focus on the Christ-image, which is the true selfhood of us all. Evil is senseless, blind, unreal. We certainly do not need to be its advocate.
