"There is a woman in the eastern United States who has written a book that is supposed to heal. I sent for it. Since the doctors say you can't live more than two weeks, put the baby to bed and let's read it." That was told to my mother by an aunt at the time of my birth. The book was Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and my mother read it and was healed. Two weeks later Mother went to the doctor's office to tell him of her healing. At first he refused to believe it and simply reiterated the gravity of her condition. Then he examined her and was astounded to find she was correct.
A few years ago, after I had undergone an annual X-ray required in my profession, I was urged to notify a physician and my family, and to enter a clinic immediately. The medical authorities expressed the opinion that my life was seriously threatened. One lung was considered so badly diseased that it no longer showed on the X-ray.
At the time I was experiencing discomfort or disease. After I received the X-ray report, my fear increased. There was a worsening state of pain, weakness, and difficulty in breathing, as well as coughing spells and weight loss. I spoke to no one of my difficulty, as the symptoms seemed too frightening to relate.
