Testimonies of Healing

From the November 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At one time I served as a Reader for a large college organization. During one service I mistakenly read some of the citations out of order. Burdened by a sense of failure, I began to condemn myself for this mistake. I should have reasoned scientifically that God alone communicates to His spiritual idea, man, and that nothing can interfere with this divine message. But, instead, I began thinking of myself as a mortal, separate from God yet striving, through limited mortal abilities, to effectively communicate His Word.

As these suggestions of separation from God dominated thought, I became fearful. Within a few minutes I felt nauseated and began to perspire heavily. I held on to the desk to keep myself from collapsing as I continued to read. Soon my vision began to fail and I blacked out periodically.

I paused in my reading and silently affirmed that at that very moment immortal Truth was revealing itself not only to me but to everyone present, and that no disruption or obstruction could interrupt this divine revelation. Then I refuted the mistaken concept that I had failed. I knew that I was really an unlimited spiritual idea engaged in spiritually derived activity, and I could see that in the infinitude of Spirit there is no opposing power to hinder God's action.
