A twofold premise—manifold proof

From the December 1982 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Fundamental to the demonstration of Christian Science is an understanding in some degree that God, good, is what the Bible implies—All-in-all. From God's own revelation of His allness, Christian Science deduces evil's nothingness. God's allness—including His wholly good creation, with perfect man—is basic to Christian Science and is evidenced in spiritual healing.

Could there be a more thorough cure for suffering, sensuality, or sorrow than the exclusion of sickness, sin, and death through the spiritual understanding of man's true health, holiness, and eternal life? Small wonder that (1) the allness of God, good, and (2) the nothingness of evil or matter are the crucial points of this Science.

These conjoin as one twofold premise for "the scientific statement of being," that Mrs. Eddy presents in Science and Health, which begins: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all."Science and Health, p. 468.
