Readers and joy

From the December 1982 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Those elected to the sacred office of Reader in a Church of Christ, Scientist, are afforded the privilege of filling one of the most significant positions attainable on this planet. They have the glorious opportunity of sharing the gospel of Christianity and obeying Christ Jesus' commands: "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature"Mark 16:15. and "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."Matt. 10:8.

Joy, that Christly quality of Soul, is an essential element for the accomplishment of these divinely inspired orders.

The Reader's study of the Bible and of Mrs. Eddy's writings illumines his thought to behold the lovely quality of joy as prominent among Soul's infinite attributes. Joy's powerful healing properties appear to the Reader's spiritualized thought, giving a buoyancy to his life and lighting his path heavenward.
