Spiritual renewal

From the December 1982 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The wonder and joy of the renewal taking place around us are constant and hint at the nature of the immortal.

Each spring the earth takes on renewed beauty and fragrance. Enduring music emerges even during periods of fabulous fads and trends. In birth we see life unfolding in various forms of beauty.

In its references to renewal, the Bible often uses this term in connection with spirituality. Renewal is spoken of by Paul as an activity of thought. For instance, he writes, "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."Rom. 12:2. Clearly, Paul is advising the spiritualization of thought with direct obedience to truth as the legitimate law of transformation.
