The Bible abounds in accounts of God's communications to man. From the first statement of creation in Genesis to the last imperative command of Revelation, God speaks so that all may hear. Surely, then, our first concern must be to examine the quality of our listening.
Listening is a many-faceted jewel. Do we hear? Do we comprehend? Do we associate listening with putting thought into action? One of the most important occasions for listening is when we are studying the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. As we close the door on suggestions of lack and discord, we are ready to hear God's ever-present, perfect answer to our needs. Isaiah eloquently states, "Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left."Isa. 30:21.
Such inspired listening enables us to appreciate more deeply the selections from the Bible, and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which these Lesson-Sermons contain.
