Lift up your gratitude

From the November 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Thanksgiving, as a national holiday, seems to belong predominately to the people of the United States and Canada. Yet gratitude for good can flow from the hearts of all of us no matter where we live.

In Christian Science, gratitude is not dependent upon fluctuating material conditions. "Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals," Science and Health, p. 13. writes Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health.

When we turn to God, divine Love, to find a reason for gratitude, we must look higher than our present human situation. In God's presence, miserable conditions that would make us feel we have no reason to be grateful are healed. Even the haunting fear we may someday lose our blessings is dissipated.
